How This Works

• 1. RETAIN US. If you and your spouse are in agreement, call our office at 312-704-8400 to retain us. Be prepared to pay the fee for your case. We will schedule an interview over the phone to obtain all the information we need to prepare your divorce documents. You must know your date of marriage.
• 2. PAYMENT. We accept all major credit cards (3.5% convenience fee applies), Chase or Zelle Quickpay, Venmo, checks, cash, etc.
• 3. REVIEW AND SIGN YOUR PAPERS. Once the interview is completed, we will prepare your divorce documents and mail or e-mail them to you for your approval, usually within 7 days or less. You and your spouse will then need to sign and return the documents: one of the documents will also need to be notarized. Our office will be happy to mail the approved papers to your spouse for his or her signature if that works best for you! Once we receive the signed papers and the court costs are paid, we will file your case and obtain a court date for the final divorce.
• 4. FINALIZING THE DIVORCE. On the assigned court date, you will meet the attorney in court and appear before a Judge. We will prepare you for court to answer some questions and, in most cases, the Judge will sign the Divorce Judgment that day and you will be divorced. You will usually be able to get a certified copy that day. With a certified copy, you can easily update all identification papers with your prior or maiden name.
